‘£70m, trade for Mudryk!’ -Arsenal star transfer bids with Arsenal decision close

Smith Emile Rowe to depart Arsenal? Why Chelsea, of all the clubs? That is the rumor leading up to the transfer deadline.

Despite spending over £350 million and breaking the British transfer record to sign Moises Caicedo, as well as bringing in Romeo Lavia, Axel Disasi, Nicolas Jackson, and Christopher Nkunku, it would appear that the Blues – under new head coach Mauricio Pochettino – remain open to additional deals.

And reports indicate that they are positioning Smith Rowe as a potential target. Initially, it was reported that Arsenal would prefer to retain the Hale End academy graduate and that it was unlikely that the 23-year-old would leave the Emirates Stadium, but nothing had been definitively ruled out.

Nevertheless, according to The Times, the north London club would be willing to transfer Smith Rowe if the Blues made an offer.

It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can reach an agreement, but with Friday being the deadline, it is fair to say that a decision is imminent.

In recent years, transactions between the Arsenal and Chelsea have been commonplace. Petr Cech, David Luiz, Willian, Jorginho, and Kai Havertz have all moved from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates Stadium. However, more players have moved in the opposite direction, from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates Stadium.

In fact, prior to Olivier Giroud in 2018, the last prominent Arsenal player to switch clubs was Ashley Cole, who crossed the divide in a 2006 trade deal involving William Gallas.

As Smith Rowe has not played a single minute of Premier League football so far this season, some Arsenal fans are beginning to accept that he may be on the move.

They have taken to social media to suggest that Edu Gaspar and company should not accept offers below £70 million for Smith Rowe.

For instance, on Twitter, @AFC5994 stated, “Emile Smith Rowe for anything less than £70 million would be a joke,” @michaelanglo90 stated, “Unpopular opinion: I would be ruthless and sell Emile Smith Rowe for £70 million,” and @ViewsofArsenal stated, “Emile SmithRowe’s finest season in the league. Someone inform Chelsea to offer £70 million for ESR”, and @ImFollowingTad replied, “€70 million.

I adore Smith Rowe, but that would be a record-breaking Hale-End sale for a player who isn’t receiving any playing time.

Meanwhile, @APresserV2 has proposed a swap involving Mikel Arteta’s most recent transfer target: “We’re getting Mudryk for ESR? This has been something of a hot topic on Twitter, with @osowxvyy suggesting: “We give Chelsea ESR, they give us Mudryk” and @ck_gooner reiterating the same: “Swap ESR for Mudryk.”

Considering that Chelsea paid £88 million for Mykhailo Mudryk in January, it seems unlikely that they would allow him to depart so soon. The fate of Smith Rowe will be decided by Friday at 11 p.m., whether he leaves or remains in an attempt to force his way into Arteta’s plans.
