AC Milan is in talks to recruit Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer. Loftus-Cheek is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer. The 27-year-old is entering the final year of his current contract with the Blues, and he could be one of the numerous players sold prior to the start of the upcoming season.

In April, thesoccerstand had reported that AC Milan had contacted Chelsea regarding a possible summer transfer for Loftus-Cheek. There have been no official negotiations to extend his contract, leading to rumors that he may depart the club before the 2022/23 season.

Loftus-Cheek made his debut with the senior squad in 2015 before spending time on loan at Crystal Palace and Fulham. This season, the 27-year-old had only completed 90 minutes eight times, and he is currently a member of the team’s rotation.

Loftus-Cheek, who is valued at approximately £22 million on the football database website Transfermarkt, has frequently been used as a right wing-back to replace Reece James, who has struggled with injuries once again this season. Malo Gusto is expected to move from Lyon to Stamford Bridge this summer after agreeing to join Chelsea in January, returning to the French club on loan until the conclusion of the current campaign.

As a result of incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino’s desire to acquire a new central midfielder this summer, Loftus-Cheek may fall further down the pecking order. According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan are prioritizing a transfer for the Chelsea star in order to bolster their midfield.

Loftus-Cheek could reunite with former Chelsea teammates Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori at the San Siro, according to Romano. It remains to be seen what kind of compensation the Blues could receive for the 27-year-old, but his departure would mark the beginning of Todd Boehly’s plans to trim the overcrowded squad at Stamford Bridge.
