After Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Man Utd, Jorge Mendes finally speaks out about their breakup.

Jorge Mendes maintains that he is still “close” with ex-client Cristiano Ronaldo despite their recent split.

Ronaldo, 38, had been represented by Mendes for the majority of his illustrious career, but the two reportedly fell out last summer after the striker demanded his agent negotiate a transfer to Bayern Munich or Chelsea after becoming disillusioned with life at Manchester United.

Even though this did not occur, Ronaldo ultimately got his desire and left United by mutual consent in November.

But by that time, the veteran’s relationship with Mendes was in shambles due to the explosive interview he gave to Piers Morgan shortly before fleeing Old Trafford, a decision that Mendes did not support.

In the weeks following Ronaldo’s move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, which was not negotiated by Mendes, the two parted ways officially.

The super agent told reporters that he has a “great personal relationship” with Ronaldo, indicating that he harbors no ill will toward him.

However, when queried about Ronaldo’s current situation after the striker was criticized for leaving Manchester United for the Middle East, he was evasive. Mendes asked, “How do I perceive this period of his life? Cristiano will remain in my heart forever.

“He is an exceptional athlete and individual for me. If I had known a few years ago that I could acquire a player with 50% of Cristiano’s value, I would have signed for less! And we should all be proud to have had and still have a player of his caliber.

I’ve always said it, and I’ll continue to say it for the rest of my life: he was and is the greatest player in the history of global football! I am completely confident, even in comparison to others.”

Mendes continued by asserting that Ronaldo will “always” be the greatest footballer in history. He added, “You must see what he has accomplished. Football is a score! There is a great deal of power and labor present.

“He is a role model for young people and has accomplished everything a brilliant professional would be expected to do… because he is the best of them all! But it is also true that he was a pious young player:

you mentioned Ronaldinho Gaucho and Messi, but when he was young, Cristiano was also virtuous!

“And combustible in ‘one-on-one’ situations! Cristiano has become an automaton! Numerous individuals never seriously pondered the maturation process that made him the greatest athlete in history. And for me, he will remain the greatest in history forever.”

Ronaldo’s first season with Al-Nassr came to a disappointing conclusion last week, as his team missed out on winning the Saudi Pro League.
