Arsenal Goalkeeper breaks silence after his agreement extension is approved

Aaron Ramsdale has expressed his confidence after committing his long-term future to Arsenal by signing a contract extension.

The England international only joined Arsenal from Sheffield United in the summer of 2021, but he has since established himself as the club’s starting goalkeeper.

Two years remained on his current contract, but Arsenal was eager to be proactive and offer him a salary more commensurate with his position at the club.

He has been rewarded with a new contract that is scheduled to last until 2026 with an option to extend for an additional year. The 25-year-old player expressed delight at the news after signing the new terms.

He told Arsenal.com, “I’m filled with immense pride.” “It is something you earn. Whether you’ve been at the institution for a month or four years, you always want the next one and to progress with the team.

“To receive it after two years, I’m ecstatic. It simply means I can focus and keep my head down, and after a few more years I’ll ideally get another one and continue living the dream at the football club.”

In 2021, the arrival of Ramsdale was not precisely the most popular event. The England goalkeeper was forced to disable Instagram comments after receiving threatening messages from disgruntled fans over his signing.

After that, however, the 25-year-old soon supplanted Bernd Leno as Arsenal’s starting goalkeeper and became a fan favorite at the Emirates.

“Deep down I knew there was a lot of negativity around,” he admitted when questioned about his difficult beginning. “I was also aware that no one had observed me outside of the three or four games I played against Arsenal.

“I was just eager to get started, eager to demonstrate my capabilities. Last year, Bernd and I engaged in a fierce battle, which is exactly what goalkeepers need – competition.

“When I made my debut against West Brom, that negativity disappeared because the fans knew to give me the opportunity and support I required. That night, the fans were incredible; they sang my name, and I was eager to perform.

As soon as you pull on the Arsenal jersey, they will give you every opportunity to perform. I knew I could win them over eventually, and fortunately I did so quite quickly.”
