Arsenal is preparing a record-breaking bid for a Manchester United player, according to a report.

Arsenal could be close to acquiring a star player from Manchester United, but the transfer won’t be inexpensive.

According to reports, Arsenal is preparing another record-breaking offer for Manchester United and England goalkeeper Mary Earps.

The Gunners have already failed with a proposal that would have set a record for the highest fee ever paid for a female goalkeeper, but they appear determined to sign the Lionesses’ goalkeeper.

Earps cemented her status as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the world during this summer’s Women’s World Cup, where she saved a penalty during England’s heartbreaking loss to Spain in the final.

According to Alex Ibaceta of DAZN, Arsenal are poised to make a second attempt to sign Earps, with Manchester United reportedly demanding significantly more than the current world record of £100k – paid by San Diego Wave to sign Kailen Sheridan from Gotham FC two years ago.

Several of Earps’ international teammates already play for the Gunners, including England captain Leah Williamson, Euro 2022 Tournament MVP Beth Mead, Lotte Wubben-Moy, and Alessia Russo, who joined as a free agent after departing United last month.

Prior to joining United, Earps played for Wolfsburg for one season outside of English football.

She has appeared 96 times for the Red Devils, helping them reach the Women’s FA Cup final last season.

The former Birmingham City and Reading player made her England début in 2017 and has since earned 41 caps for the Lionesses, playing a crucial role in their Euro 2022 victory.

Three perfect sheets earned Earps the Golden Glove award at the 2023 FIFA World Cup.
