Arsenal U-turn! Arsenal defender set to exit Gunners and join Real Sociedad on season-long loan
The manager of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, had stated that the defender was a part of his plans, but at this point, it is anticipated that he would move on.
Tierney will spend the upcoming campaign on loan with Sociedad.
There is no purchase option contained in the contract. Sociedad will pay Tierney’s salaries in addition to the loan fee.

According to The Athletic, Real Sociedad are on the approach of finalizing a deal with Arsenal to obtain the services of Kieran Tierney for a season-long loan. The deal would see Tierney play for Real Sociedad.
The La Liga club will pay the Gunners a loan fee in addition to covering the full salaries of the Scotland international player. However, the contract does not contain an option for the La Liga club to buy the player.
Even though the contract has not yet been signed, Tierney may still go to Spain over the weekend to get a medical exam if the other terms of the deal are finalized. If this occurs, the contract will be inked.
Tierney’s preference was to play for Real Sociedad since he wanted to be a part of the Champions League and had the opportunity to get regular first-team playing time there.
Notably, Tierney has not yet made an appearance in the Premier League this season. His most recent start was on May 14 against Brighton in a game that they lost by a score of 3-0.
His only appearance of the current campaign came in the victory over Manchester City in the FA Community Shield, when he came on as a substitute for Jurrein Timber, who was sidelined with an injury. This month, Manager Mikel Arteta has claimed that Tierney is included in his plans for the future, but it appears that the Scot will be moving on to other opportunities.
After the international break, Real Sociedad will travel to Santiago Bernabeu to take on Real Madrid. If the transaction is finalized and Tierney passes his medical evaluation, he will be able to play for Real Sociedad shortly after the break.
