Chadi Riad is one of the most promising young talents at Barcelona, but the club is about to part ways with him since they are looking to increase income through the sale of players. Riad is expected to join Real Betis in the very near future.

In point of fact, Fabrizio Romano is stating that the player, who will be 20 years old at the time of the signing, will make a permanent move to Real Betis in a deal that will be worth €2.5 million.

However, the Blaugrana will keep some degree of control over his future as a result of a buyback mechanism that is part of the agreement, and they will also keep a 50% potential sell-on clause. Both of these provisions are part of the arrangement.

Riad, a product of the club’s youth academy, had been a regular for Rafa Marquez’s Barca Atletic side during the previous season and had even made his debut with the first team under Xavi Hernandez.

The young player from Morocco is held in extremely high respect across the organization. However, the addition of Inigo Martinez to the roster further intensified the rivalry for starting positions in the central defensive position.

As a consequence of this, Xavi made the decision not to include Riad in the squad for the pre-season tour of the United States and instead desired for him to go out on loan somewhere else so that he could get additional experience.

There were discussions about leaving the company temporarily, but there was also the possibility of selling the business permanently. And as it would turn out, Barcelona has now given Riad permission to leave the club permanently, and he is on his way to signing a contract with Real Betis.

However, as was mentioned previously, the champions of La Liga will have a repurchase option for the future, which they will look to activate if his progression continues as planned and they are able to anticipate it. In such case, they would still gain from any subsequent sale because they had incorporated a sell-on clause that gave them a 50% share of the proceeds.

Riad made the journey to Seville last night in order to finalize the move, and it is possible that a formal announcement could be made very soon.
