Bayern Munich declines to sign former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

According to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg on Twitter, former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea will not be joining Bayern Munich during the current transfer window.

Thomas Tuchel is averse to adding the Spanish player to his roster this summer and has vetoed the transfer.

The German manager contacted Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega in an attempt to acquire him. It does not appear, however, that a deal will materialize for the Sky Blues’ number two.

The Bundesliga powerhouses had also held discussions with De Gea about bolstering their goalkeeping corps. The 32-year-old was willing to start a new chapter in his career with the Allianz Arena club.

In the summer of 2011, United acquired the goalkeeper from Atletico Madrid. He replaced Edwin van der Sar as the Red Devils’ starting goalkeeper. After a brief period of adjustment, the Spaniard became an indispensable member of our team.

De Gea was once regarded as one of the finest goalkeepers in the world. The veteran goalkeeper consistently produced outstanding saves for the Old Trafford club. However, during his final years with the organization, his performance was inconsistent.

With the introduction of Erik ten Hag last summer, the Spaniard remained United’s number one goalkeeper. The goalkeeper made several crucial saves for us during the 2022-23 Premier League season, recording 17 clean sheets.

However, despite his remarkable performances, De Gea left much to be desired while playing for the Dutch manager. Over the years, the manager has established a reputation for having his teams play out from the back. However, the Spaniard’s distribution left much to be desired.

Bayern anticipate Manuel Neuer’s return from injury within a few weeks. Bundesliga powerhouses appear to have placed their faith in Sven Ulreich until the 37-year-old’s return. Therefore, it remains to be seen what De Gea’s future contains.
