Sunday’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur increased Liverpool’s prospects of finishing in the top four of the Premier League, but the task remains difficult.

With only five matches remaining, the Reds are unlikely to qualify for the Champions League due to the points disparity between themselves, Manchester United, and Newcastle.

Despite this brutal reality, Liverpool will enter each game attempting to finish in the top four until it becomes mathematically impossible to do so, with a Europa League spot likely to be secured at the very least.

In recent weeks, Jürgen Klopp has implemented a new system, presumably with next season and new signings in mind. It is unknown which players the club will target or acquire during the summer transfer window.

In recent weeks, Liverpool has been associated to a large number of potential new signings. Mason Mount of Chelsea, Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich, and Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton have dominated the Reds’ rumor mill.

Here, Liverpool.com takes a peek at what’s happening at the other major clubs in the Premier League and Europe.

Sadio Mané is “looking for a buyer” at Bayern Munich

Since Sadio Mané departed Liverpool last summer to join Bayern Munich, his career has not gone according to plan.

The international Senegalese player has scored 12 goals in 35 appearances, but that does not tell the whole story.

Mané was allegedly embroiled in an altercation with teammate Leroy Sané following Bayern’s Champions League loss to Manchester City last month. Now, if rumors are accurate, Mané may be on the move this summer.

Christian Falk of Sport BILD reports that Bayern is actively ‘looking for a suitor’ for Mané this summer. Even Chelsea has been mentioned as a potential suitor for the former Liverpool player.

Falk wrote for Caught Offside, “FC Bayern is looking for a buyer for Sadio Mané.”

“A trade with (Victor) Osimhen would be desirable but impossible. Mané reportedly earns €12 million net in Munich. Naples does not pay that amount.

“In Munich, however, word spread that Chelsea is reportedly interested in acquiring Mané. If requested, FC Bayern would be willing to negotiate.”

Few would have predicted that less than a year after signing one of Liverpool’s most valuable players, Bayern Munich would consider letting Sadio Mané depart the club, according to Liverpool.com.

At this stage, it is merely speculation, but if the 31-year-old were to join Chelsea, a major rival of Liverpool, the Anfield faithful would not be pleased.

Tottenham and Manchester United are reportedly ‘interested’ in the forward position. Following Sunday’s loss to Liverpool, reports have emerged that Tottenham Hotspur are seeking to sign a new striker.

According to the French news source L’Equipe, Spurs are keen in signing Jonathan David of Lille. According to reports, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing the Canadian national team player.

In addition, it has been reported that Tottenham is considering signing David as a replacement for Harry Kane. The England international’s contract expires in 2024, and he may be on the move this summer, according to rumors.

In 2020, when the Reds acquired Diogo Jota from Wolves, David and Watford’s Ismala Sarr were on Liverpool’s list of potential replacements.
