Caicedo starts, Sterling benched- Chelsea starting XI Pochettino should select
On Sunday, Chelsea will travel across London to face West Ham, and Mauricio Pochettino is already planning to make adjustments to his starting lineup.
Seven Blues players have been ruled out of the match at the London Stadium, as well as the manager’s new signings, so at least one substitution will be made. Reece James has been ruled out for several weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in training, so Ben Chilwell will presumably captain the team against the Irons.
On Sunday, fans will be eager to see what kind of impact Moises Caicedo and Rome Lavia can have. Pochettino was evasive regarding the team’s prospects and will evaluate the situation on Saturday, prior to the encounter.
He explained, “We have one more day to evaluate them, but Moises and Romeo have also had challenging weeks.
It would be simple to assert that they would be involved, but the most essential thing is to avoid taking unnecessary risks and to proceed cautiously. If they are ready tomorrow, they will be included in the roster. If not, we will wait a few more days to include them.

Robert Sanchez, who was given the No. 1 uniform earlier in the week, is the obvious choice to start in goal, but Reece James’ injury may give Pochettino pause. If he intends to stick with the three central defenders who started against Liverpool, Axel Disasi could potentially play on the right side.
However, after an impressive preseason, Malo Gusto should start alongside Ben Chilwell as the team’s captain on the opposite wing. As Chelsea’s midfield is tasked with collecting the ball in the center of the defense and Moises Caicedo makes his debut for the club, Disasi may be replaced.
He will be the ideal partner for Enzo Fernandez to have more latitude moving forward, although it would be a tough call to bench Conor Gallagher after his solid performance against Liverpool.
Carney Chukwuemeka has been entrusted in the No. 10 position often enough to continue in that role for the time being, while Raheem Sterling can start on the right and Ian Maatsen and Mykhailo Mudryk compete for the final berth on the left, behind Nicolas Jackson.

Kepa’s departure from the club last week makes Bobby Vincent Sanchez the obvious candidate in goal. Sanchez will start against West Ham despite Pochettino’s comments that almost suggested the club may seek to add another goalkeeper in the coming weeks.
James’ absence due to a hamstring injury forces Gusto to take over at right back. The youthful Frenchman performed well in preseason, so it will be intriguing to see how he performs in the regular season.
Caicedo and Fernandez must start for me as a double pivot. We’ve waited so long for this, and the prospect of them performing as a duo is so thrilling.
None Madueke should return to the team. Pochettino stated that the England Under-21 international is in contention to play and feeling well, so why not start him?
Mudryk is located to the left of Chukwuemeka. And, naturally, Jackson as the No. 9 as he attempts to score his first Premier League goal.
