Casemiro, a Brazilian midfielder, has been one of the few recent Manchester United acquisitions to hit the ground running.

The former Real Madrid star has been nothing short of sensational in his first season with Manchester United and has unquestionably been the club’s player of the year thus far. Casemiro’s performance at the Santiago Bernabeu may not come as much of a surprise, but there is always the possibility that a player from a foreign league will not acclimate to the Premier League.

The 31-year-old has helped transform United’s style of play and is one of the first names on Erik ten Hag’s squad sheet whenever he is available.
As a result, the Brazil international has received numerous accolades, many of which have echoed the sentiment that Casemiro would not have been out of place on United’s title-winning squads of the past.

Former Red Devils star Owen Hargreaves is the most recent to praise Casemiro; he described the current United star’s style of play in a manner that club legend Sir Alex Ferguson will appreciate.

Sir Alex used to say, ‘When you gain the ball back, play forward.’ Casemiro wins the ball and passes it forward to either Bruno Fernandes or Christian Eriksen, who then bring in Marcus Rashford or any other attacking player.
Hargreaves continued by stating that Casemiro is the best candidate for United’s player of the year, stating: “My player of the year? Marcus made headlines, but Casemiro’s absence drastically alters the team’s identity.

It impacts David de Gea, the four defenders, and the midfield equilibrium ground. It is the essential component.”

This season, Hargreaves is not the only former Manchester United midfielder to praise Casemiro. In February, Paul Scholes compared the former Real Madrid player to another Red Devils legend, Roy Keane.
“He is a true Manchester United midfielder who participates in everything.

“You see him advancing up the field, defending, and at times commanding the game. He is arguably the closest you can get to Roy Keane. I believe that he’s been excellent. I believe the term ‘holding midfielder’ does him a disservice.”

Casemiro was instrumental in ending the club’s six-year trophy drought earlier this season, and he could play a role in United’s quest to win the FA Cup, the Europa League, and qualify for the Champions League.
