It’s that time of year again: the list of nominees for the most recent Ballon d’Or award has been made public, and the ceremony for handing out the trophy will take place in late October.

It is not the calendar year that determines who wins the award; rather, it is the player who received the most votes for their accomplishments over the most recent season.

Karim Benzema is the most recent player to hoist the illustrious golden ball trophy; nonetheless, both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been multiple-time champions of the competition during the past two decades.

The nominations list provides a hint as to which players are in the running for the award at the time when everyone is beginning to speculate about which players have the best chance of winning this time around.

Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka have been nominated for the award for Arsenal, and Jude Bellingham of England is also in the running for the honor.

However, there are a few noticeable omissions from the list, and some of these omissions are likely to be disappointing to the fans of certain clubs.

There’s a chance that one of those teams is Chelsea, who while having a less-than-stellar season or two, have shown that they have some exceptional players on their roster.

Given that Enzo Fernandez came into the forefront in Europe and was later essential in Argentina’s World Cup success, it is possible that his absence from the list may be called into question.

However, given the troubles that other team members had over the course of the previous year, there may be fewer reasons for them.

Then there is their fierce competition, Manchester United, who had a more successful season overall, finishing in the top four of the standings and winning the League Cup.

Marcus Rashford is a significant absence from the team, which is surprising given the fact that he routinely reached new heights with the number of goals he scored. Playmaker Bruno Fernandes is also missing from the team.

It remains to be seen whether these celebrities have anything to say about the fact that they were not included on the list; nevertheless, one thing is certain: they will be working hard to improve their chances of being considered for the year 2024.
