Manchester United are reportedly interested in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Sergio Reguilon of Tottenham after injuries hampered their season’s start.

Six points have been earned by Erik ten Hag’s squad through their first three matches, but their performances have been shaky, and their 2-0 defeat to Spurs two weeks ago was especially disappointing.

Despite the fact that Tyrell Malacia was already sidelined by an injury, Luke Shaw suffered another muscle problem that could keep him out until December.

This means that Manchester United are investigating the possibility of signing a talented Premier League left-back in the final days of the transfer window.

In addition to Marc Cucurella and Reguilon of Chelsea, Lyon’s Nicolas Tagliafico and free agent Ryan Bertrand are rumored to be on their agenda.

Reguilon has declined in Spurs’ pecking order under Ange Postecoglou, but he has played regularly under both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte since joining Chelsea for £27.5 million in 2020.

In his first season with the club, the 26-year-old recorded seven assists. However, he was loaned out to Atletico Madrid, where he played only 300 minutes over 11 appearances due to long-term groin and hamstring injuries.

As he enters the final two years of his Spurs contract, Hojbjerg has been the subject of initial interest from Ten Hag’s club.

After his impressive albeit limited performances so far this season, the Danish international could once again be in talks to depart Postecoglou’s side. He nearly joined Atletico Madrid in the summer before negotiations broke down.

United’s midfield has appeared hopelessly unbalanced with Casemiro playing as a lone defensive midfielder while ex-Spurs player Christian Eriksen attempts to take up the slack around him.

Ten Hag and Hojbjerg worked together in 2013 when Ten Hag was a member of Bayern Munich’s reserve squad.

The addition of Hojbjerg would enable Ten Hag and Hojbjerg to reunite while bolstering Ten Hag’s midfield strength and defensive integrity.

United is likely to be the only club interested in the 28-year-old between now and the conclusion of the transfer window, according to reports.
