Chelsea is considering a transfer for the promising French midfielder.

Due to N’Golo Kante’s deployment slightly further upfield in recent seasons, the Blues lack a specialist in that position. As a result, Thuram has been added to the club’s summer transfer shortlist.

According to Rudy Galetti, the Blues have entered the competition for his signature, which is in high demand.

Thuram has appeared 46 times for Nice this season, with 17 of those appearances coming from the defensive midfield position. However, he has been utilized more frequently as a box-to-box midfielder.

Thuram, who is the younger sibling of Borussia Monchengladbach player Marcus and whose father is the legendary French defender Lilian, has made 136 appearances for France despite being only 22 years old, and his performances this season have earned him “future star” status.

Thuram, Romeo Lavia (Southampton), Manu Kone (Gladbach), and Adrien Rabiot (Juventus), all of whom have excelled for their respective clubs this season, are now on Chelsea’s shortlist for a midfielder, according to Galetti.

Thuram is valued by Transfermarkt at €32 million, but Nice would be foolish not to demand a much higher fee for the player, given that he is likely to garner significant interest from clubs across Europe.

With Chelsea due to lose a number of out-of-contract players and others who aren’t a part of the club’s long-term plans this summer, don’t be surprised if the Blues test the waters with a bid as their defensive midfielder needs reach a critical point.

Their lack of European competition may hinder their pursuit of players this summer, but given their club’s prestige, you should never rule them out.
