Chelsea still need to approve six transfers to keep Pochettino’s big rebuild going

Even though Chelsea has already sold eleven first-team players this summer, the club is still actively pursuing the sale of additional players before the transfer window closes.

The Blues have already generated over £200 million in player sales with a month remaining in the transfer window, but there are ongoing discussions for others to depart. Chelsea is still in negotiations with Brighton over a prospective transfer for midfielder Moises Caicedo.

According to football.london, the two clubs’ discussions have become more constructive in recent days. Although no agreement has been reached as of yet, Chelsea is reportedly formulating an £80 million offer for Caicedo.

Personal terms have been verbally agreed upon, but nothing has been signed yet. Caicedo has his sights set on a transfer to Stamford Bridge, and it is believed that he will not be swayed by interest from other Premier League clubs.

In the meantime, Chelsea is still interested in acquiring Rayan Cherki from Lyon after making contact with the player and his representatives. The Blues received positive feedback from the 19-year-old’s entourage after inquiring about a prospective move.

However, Lyon are adamant that they will not transfer the France U-21 international. Interestingly, the French club did not rule out selling Cherki, despite the fact that the Ligue 1 club is presently under some pressure to sell its players.

Chelsea will hope to complete these transactions as quickly as possible in order to have as much time as possible to work with newly-appointed head coach Mauricio Pochettino. As football.london explains below, there is still considerable uncertainty surrounding the destinies of five squad members.

Trevoh Chalobah

Trevoh Chalobah plays soccer. The 24-year-old is reportedly open to departing Stamford Bridge this summer, and Chelsea is willing to sanction his departure. In the center-back position, Thiago Silva, Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, and the returning Levi Colwill pose formidable competition for Chalobah.

Chalobah could leave west London in the coming weeks, as Pochettino prefers to have four central defenders to choose from, and all of those ahead of him in the pecking order are ahead of him in the pecking order. There is considerable interest in the Cobham graduate from fellow Premier League clubs and Inter Milan, who discussed him with Chelsea earlier in the transfer window.

Hakim Ziyech

Chelsea is still searching for a new club for Ziyech, who is determined to depart this summer. The Morocco international appeared to be on his way to Al-Nassr, but the Saudi Pro League club decided not to acquire him after he underwent a medical.

There is still considerable interest in Ziyech from Saudi Arabia and a few European clubs, but the 30-year-old’s departure is not currently moving forward. With two years remaining on his contract, Chelsea will demand a substantial transfer fee for the versatile Moroccan winger.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Hudson-Odoi, whose contract at Stamford Bridge has less than a year remaining, has informed Chelsea officials of his desire to depart the club this summer. The 22-year-old winger spent last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, but Fulham and Nottingham Forest, among others, are now interested in signing him.

Fulham have agreed to re-sign Willian, but it is believed that the club is also interested in signing Hudson-Odoi. In recent weeks, the Cobham graduate has been training separately from the main group.

Romelu Lukaku

Despite initial interest, Champions League runners-up Inter Milan have abandoned their pursuit of Lukaku. This month, Chelsea reportedly rejected a bid of approximately £30 million for the 30-year-old.

This summer, Juventus remains interested in signing the Chelsea forward who wishes to leave the west London club permanently. Saudi Arabia is also interested in Lukaku, but the Belgian international is eager to remain in Europe for the time being.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Like the aforementioned players, Aubameyang desires to depart Chelsea this summer following an unsuccessful return to England. Thomas Tuchel signed the Gabon forward last summer, but the reconciliation with his former Borussia Dortmund manager lasted only a few days. Aubameyang’s departure from the club is not yet imminent, but there is considerable interest from elsewhere.

Malang Sarr

Sarr is attracting interest from numerous French clubs, according to football.london, and could leave Chelsea this summer. Last season, the French defender was unable to convince AS Monaco to exercise the clause in his loan agreement to make the transfer permanent. Since joining Chelsea from FC Porto in 2021, Sarr has made just 21 appearances for the Blues. Chelsea are seeking to sell the winger.
