As the summer transfer window came to a close, Chelsea were interested in Palmer, who is 21 years old, as a potential late addition to their roster.

Mauricio Pochettino, who is desperate to acquire another offensive option before Friday’s deadline, has given his approval for a move to acquire the England U21 international player.

The Athletic is reporting that Chelsea have reached an agreement with City to sign Palmer, and that the west London club is planning to pay somewhere between £40 and £45 million for his services.

Assuming that Palmer does well in the physical exam that is scheduled to take place within the next twenty-four hours, all that is left for him to do is reach an agreement with the Blues over his personal arrangements.

According to rumors, Palmer has already given his approval to make the transfer, and it is believed that he is prepared to start a new chapter in his life. This does not appear to be an issue.

Palmer has three years left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, and while Pep Guardiola was open to retaining him, it seemed anticipated that he would not get many opportunity to play for the first team given City’s depth in the attacking position.

Palmer has seen action in the Premier League this season, coming off the bench in the win over Burnley on the season’s first day. He played a total of ten minutes.

In addition, he started for City in the Super Cup final matchup against Sevilla, in which he scored one of City’s goals as they went on to win 5-4 on penalties.

Since making his debut for the senior team in September 2020, Palmer has played for City in a total of 41 games across all competitions; 19 of those games have been played in the league.
