Erik ten Hag is reciting Eriksen’s tactic in Manchester United’s plan on Atalanta player
This summer, Manchester United will attempt to lure one of Europe’s brightest prospects to Old Trafford using a not-so-secret weapon.
It is clear to see why Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund has been compared to Erling Haaland. His speed and stamina are comparable to that of the Norwegian talisman, and he has a soft spot in his heart for a Manchester club.
Yes, as widely reported, the 20-year-old is a United fan, so it is doubtful that he would require much convincing to move to Old Trafford. To prevent Hojlund from being enticed by other major clubs, the Reds have begun employing a strategy that worked for the forward’s compatriot Christian Eriksen.
United have lacked a manager who can sell the club to a player for some time, but Erik ten Hag has already demonstrated his ability to do so. Eriksen is a prime example of a player who was enticed by the vision presented to him by his manager.
The midfielder stated in April that a conversation with Ten Hag influenced his decision. “Obviously, my contract with Brentford expired in the summer,” he said on UTD Podcast.
“Therefore, I was allowed to communicate with other clubs, and I kept my options open. At the time, I wasn’t adamant about returning to Brentford; I wanted to see what other opportunities presented themselves or if anything could sway me away from how wonderful it was there.
“Then, of course, United entered the market. After speaking with the manager on the phone, I could envision myself joining United. Fortunately, they were able to successfully relocate, and I was able to as well. Therefore, arriving here was unquestionably very special.”
Interestingly, MEN Sport has learned that Ten Hag has held multiple phone conversations with Hojlund regarding a transfer to the Theatre of Dreams. Next week, Eriksen and Hojlund will join forces for Denmark’s Euro 2024 qualifying matches, and it would be surprising if Manchester United is not on their agenda.

United will hope that Ten Hag’s calls to Hojlund have the same impact on him as they did on Eriksen.
