FA Cup final : Man United set up final blow vs City
After a tight penalty shootout victory over Brighton at a wet and windy Wembley Stadium, Manchester United will play Manchester City in the first ever FA Cup final. The match will take place on May 19.

After 120 minutes of play, United’s Victor Lindelof converted the game-winning penalty kick after rival player Solly March’s attempt went well over the crossbar. The match had ended in a scoreless draw after extra time. Following their victory in the League Cup back in February, the team coached by Erik ten Hag has now advanced to the second domestic final of the season thanks to the 7-6 score.
Both goalkeepers played exceptionally well in the semi-final, with David De Gea of Manchester United making many impressive saves and Robert Sanchez of Brighton blocking a deflected shot from Marcus Rashford in extra time.
Guardiola is thrilled by Mahrez’s hat trick.
London: After Manchester City’s victory over Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday at Wembley Stadium, manager Pep Guardiola stated that he was “happy and really satisfied” with his team’s performance. This victory broke City’s streak of defeats in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Riyad Mahrez scored a hat trick to lead Manchester City to a 3-0 victory and a place in the final after Pep Guardiola made six substitutions from the team that played Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday and earned a draw.
Guardiola commented after the victory, “It’s the fourth time in a row that we are here, and the last three against Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool we could not do it,”
“We performed. This game follows closely on the heels of Bayern, and we’ve been talking about how we need to try again and perform well; they performed incredibly well with all of the men, including the ones that came off the bench; everyone was fantastic.
Mahrez, who scored a goal for City but did not participate in either of their Champions League quarter-final matches, was singled out for praise by Guardiola for his performance.
“Always he’s grumpy with me when he doesn’t play,” Guardiola added. “When he does play, he’s always happy.”
“All the time, he brings to my attention the fact that he is grumpy. He is a tremendously talented player, and his performance was tremendously talented. A player capable of performing on the greatest stages and who has the mindset to score goals.
