Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, has revealed that life under Erik ten Hag is “tough” because the ardent Dutch coach has exceedingly high expectations for his team. This could be interpreted as his temper boiling over during the United States’ victory over Arsenal in a friendly.

Ten Hag was furious that the Red Devils were not awarded a penalty and began berating the referee just before the half. He then directed his anger at the fourth official, prompting Fernandes to drag his own manager away.

The midfielder’s actions as a peacekeeper earned him numerous accolades, which demonstrated why he was appointed captain. However, the additional privilege does not grant him a reduced sentence behind the scenes.

“We know what kind of manager he is, he pays attention to every detail, and it is difficult to train with him, but this is the result, and we must accept that it will be difficult,” Fernandes explained.

Every preseason there is a lot of training and preparation, and this is our second season with him, so we must continue to improve.

The goals scored by Fernandes and Jadon Sancho early in the first half ensured that the Red Devils maintained their perfect preseason record following victories over Leeds and Lyon. The victory over Arsenal was the first occasion Fernandes captained the club since assuming the role.

Ten Hag has previously explained why he removed the insignia from Harry Maguire and gave it to Fernandes. Ten Hag stated, “A good team is always comprised of leaders, team players, multi-functional players, specialists, and individuals.”

“However, you need some leaders in the team, on the field, who are guiding the team, developing the team, and controlling the performance quality.

“And one must don the [arm]band, and we chose Bruno because he is a tremendous source of inspiration. “He is the model.”He is always striving to improve as a football player, giving his absolute best effort.

Consequently, he is the reflection of many participants and an effective social connector.

He is also very adept at game comprehension. Therefore, it is advantageous for a manager to have an intermediary on the field. These are some of the reasons why he cannot do it alone.

“We need more assistance. We need more leaders who can unite their teams and steer them in the correct direction.”
