Glazers may approve Atalanta star to Old Trafford because of Sheikh Jassim

The Glazers may be compelled to take a financial hit and sign Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund this summer out of concern that Manchester United’s value will plummet during takeover talks with Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Erik ten Hag is desperate to obtain the services of a genuine No. 9, and the Dutchman’s performances will undoubtedly suffer in the absence of such a player.

Last season, the Red Devils advanced significantly under Ten Hag, winning the Carabao Cup and reaching the FA Cup final. However, the former Ajax manager has made it abundantly obvious that additional investment is necessary if United are to challenge for the Premier League title.

As a consequence, Mason Mount has arrived from Chelsea and a deal for Andre Onana is nearing completion, but Manchester United’s frontline remains in need of reinforcement and is now their most pressing concern. United is at risk of entering the 2023/24 season without a striker due to Anthony Martial’s anticipated departure.

According to The Mirror, the Glazers were initially reluctant to splash the wealth this summer, but have since dipped into their pockets to sign players out of concern that Manchester United’s value would decrease if the club’s performances on the pitch were subpar. Thus, they’sanctioned’ a transfer budget of £170 million for the upcoming months.

With these concerns in mind and mounting pressure from Jassim and Ratcliffe to reach an agreement, the Glazers may have little choice but to reluctantly sanction another high-priced signing. If not, there is every possibility that United’s title hopes will be dashed before the season has even begun.

Several players have been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, including Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, and Randal Kolo Muani. However, the club appears to have settled on Hojlund as their main target following his breakthrough season in Serie A.

Atalanta values the 20-year-old at £60 million, which is viewed by many as a high price for a striker who scored nine league goals last season. However, the Glazers may have to swallow their tongues and approve the transfer if they are to complete a club takeover.

United are reportedly eager to negotiate a lower transfer fee with Atalanta in exchange for some of their peripheral players, including Mason Greenwood. However, the Italian club is not interested in a deal.
