‘I can’t say: 22-year-old midfielder reveals he isn’t sure of moving this summer amid Chelsea ties
Youssouf Fofana, who plays in the middle for Monaco, has stated that he is unsure about whether or not he will leave the club this summer.
He acknowledged to The Evening Standard that he is aware that major clubs frequently visit the Ligue 1 side in order to recruit its players and that he is aware of this practice.
As Chelsea looks to improve their alternatives in the middle of the field for the upcoming season, there has been speculation that the club could make a bid for Fofana.
After having a positive experience with Enzo Fernandez since his transfer in January, it is believed that the Blues are seeking for a long-term option to partner Enzo Fernandez in the midfield.
Due to the fact that no effort has been made to extend Mateo Kovacic’s current contract, which will be up for renewal at the conclusion of the 2019–20 campaign, the club is currently grappling with the possibility of losing him this summer.
Now that it’s been pointed out to him, Fofana has stated that he cannot say for certain whether or not he would be moving at the conclusion of the season.
Fofana plays coy about the future.
He stated that Monaco is an outstanding club in both France and Europe. We are all aware of the fact that several major clubs come here to scout potential prospects for their teams.
I am unable to determine whether this is the appropriate time or opportunity to depart. I don’t know, but I think we have the appropriate approach to taking care of business around here right now. “I have already played with top players, but if one day I can play with more big names then it will be a pleasure and mean that I have performed well,” he said.
It has been claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is interested in recruiting a center midfielder for his squad for when he ultimately takes over the club, which is anticipated to occur this coming summer.
