Ian Wright reveals that Arsenal can grab their own Garnacho but could be held to ransom

Arsenal legend Wright says Evan Ferguson can be their Alejandro Garnacho.

Brighton’s premier league star scorer scored a hat-trick on Saturday to beat Newcastle 3-1. Brighton have already made huge profits from prior player transactions in recent years and are not under pressure to sell the 18-year-old, so Arsenal might hold them to ransom.

Wright told Premier League Productions, “When you look at him, the way he plays, his appreciation for the game, his movement and finishing both feet, good in the air and pace.”

“He’s 18 and has everything. Very mature player. He just needs to keep doing what he’s doing and they’ll start talking about him in million dollars because that striker isn’t allowed.

You can’t find an 18-year-old in the Premier League at the appropriate club to flourish.

They can’t keep that person if he keeps doing what he’s doing. He’s too good. Intelligent for 18. The ending is composed. He is 18 and fearless. Imagine being in the Premier League at 18? You observe how he plays, all the top teams, the top six teams.

You’re not under pressure like Garnacho at Manchester United. He can play for any team. We know Brighton will be sold.”

Ferguson debuted in the Premier League at 17 against Burnley in February 2022. The teenager, who has six Ireland caps, scored six goals in 19 top-flight games last season and four in four this season.

Ferguson signed a new contract with Brighton until 2028 in April. He is reportedly being pursued by many elite clubs, including Manchester City.

Brighton transferred Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for a deal that could increase to £115m in the summer after receiving £25m for out-of-favour goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. Sussex also sold World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool for £35m.

Brighton are likely to negotiate hard for Ferguson after receiving significant sums for Marc Cucurella, Yves Bissouma, Leandro Trossard, Neal Maupay, Ben White, and Dan Burn in recent years. Arsenal may pay if the player moves to the Emirates Stadium.
