If Chelsea can sign the next Pogba in £100m transfer, he could persuade N’Golo Kante to remain

As his contract with Chelsea nears its conclusion, N’Golo Kante’s future remains uncertain.

As reported by football.london in March, discussions between the Blues and the Frenchman regarding a new contract were proceeding well. Since then, however, not much has occurred in terms of development. Chelsea now faces the possibility that Kante will become a free agent on June 30 when his contract expires.

Saudi Arabia is interested in the France international, but no progress has been made as Kante is still weighing his options. At the time of writing, it is uncertain whether Chelsea and the 32-year-old can reach an agreement before the end of the month, but there is a strong probability he will become a free agent.

In the coming days, prospective head coach Mauricio Pochettino and World Cup champion N’Golo Kante are scheduled to discuss the Frenchman’s future.

Pochettino will begin his official tenure as Chelsea manager at the beginning of the following month, but he will work in June to give the club a much-needed head start on the upcoming summer transfer window.

Moises Caicedo could have some influence over whether Kante remains or leaves, according to football.london. In the coming weeks, Chelsea will attempt to acquire the Brighton midfielder after missing out on Manuel Ugarte.

Kante will want to see midfield reinforcements at Stamford Bridge this summer in order to make the team more competitive, and playing alongside someone who has previously stated that Paul Pogba is his inspiration could be advantageous for the Chelsea midfielder.

Kante and Pogba won every single one of their first 30 matches for France in which they started together, including the country’s 2014 World Cup triumph.

Caicedo, who admitted that Kante is one of his favorite midfielders to observe, told Brighton’s website in 2022 that he modeled his game after a combination of the two Frenchmen.

Pogba was always my favorite player as a midfielder, Caicedo said last year. “I also admired N’Golo Kante for his defensive prowess, but Pogba has always been my favorite player because of the way he controls the ball and breaks forward.

“Manchester United has always been my favorite team because of Pogba and, previously, Valencia.”

He was a winger and then a right back; he was powerful, quick, and extremely intelligent. If I can experience a career similar to his in the Premier League, it will be a dream come true.”

Chelsea are confident they can entice Caicedo to Stamford Bridge despite the fact that Arsenal and Liverpool can provide the midfielder with European football next season.

It will not be simple, nor will it be inexpensive. Caicedo signed a new contract at the Amex Stadium earlier in the year, putting Brighton in a strong position. If they were to let the midfielder depart the club this summer, they could demand around £100 million.

The fact that Brighton have just reached an agreement with Liverpool to send Alexis Mac Allister to Anfield does not assist Chelsea.
