Ivan Toney makes main report amid Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham transfer connections
Following recent rumors linking him to both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, Ivan Toney of Brentford has hinted at his future plans.
Last season, Toney scored 20 Premier League goals for the Bees, leading to his England debut at age 27.
He is presently serving an eight-month suspension for violating the FA’s betting regulations, but his release in January could spark a transfer battle.
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea is ‘considering’ a winter move for the prolific goalscorer, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side seeks a replacement for Nicolas Jackson.
Despite signing Brennan Johnson for £47.5 million on transfer deadline day, Spurs have been linked with Toney to occupy the Harry Kane-shaped void in their squad.
According to reports, Brentford is aware of prospective interest in their star striker and has set an asking price of £80 million for the England international.
Toney’s recent announcement that he has signed with Jonathan Barnett’s CAA Stellar Agency, whose clients include Jack Grealish and Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavingo, suggests that he may be seeking elsewhere.
Toney has previously expressed admiration for Arsenal and Liverpool, and the former Peterborough forward is eager to contend for major trophies.
The striker has posted social media updates of himself working out in the gym, but maintains he ignores speculation about his future.
“I do not let any of this influence me. Obviously, it will continue in the background, but my goal is to continue training well whenever I have the opportunity,” Toney said on the YouTube podcast Diary of a CEO.
“In the games, continue scoring and performing well, but I believe that everyone desires to play at the highest level.
“Not that Brentford aren’t there, but I feel like playing for a big club, competing for trophies, and doing these sorts of things is something that everyone desires to do.
If the opportunity presented itself, I would be foolish not to investigate it further.”
