As the conclusion of Moises Caicedo’s protracted transfer nears, it appears that a decision has also been made regarding Romeo Lavia.

In recent weeks, the two midfielders have been at the center of a tug-of-war between Liverpool and Chelsea. Indeed, last week in particular saw an acceleration of activity.

With Caicedo now rumored to be joining Chelsea in a £115 million deal, the emphasis will now shift to who Lavia will join.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who has carefully followed and reported on the transfer, Chelsea has won the race to sign Lavia.

Tavolieri has asserted via his X account that Lavia was in fact in London over the weekend, partying with companions. Supposedly, it’s only a question of time before Chelsea announces the signing of Lavia, with the fee expected to be around the £55 million Southampton wanted.

With the addition of Lavia and Caicedo, Chelsea will have spent over £300 million in this window alone.

The Blues will have spent approximately $1 billion since Todd Boehly and his consortium took over. And with only approximately £300 million recovered through sales, the burden is now on for success to materialize.

Chelsea demonstrates their strength to defeat Liverpool.
Is it necessary for Chelsea to acquire both Lavia and Caicedo? Probably not at this time. However, this is yet another indication of the financial strength Boehly and company have brought to the table.

Lavia will undoubtedly prove to be an excellent addition. Young and talented, there is a reason why elite organizations have pursued him for so long.

The concern for Chelsea now is whether or not players will be sold. Connor Gallagher and others will undoubtedly be pondering if they will be transferred.

This places Pochettino in a difficult position.
