Thomas Partey missed the encounter due to a groin injury that, according to the Ghanaian FA, will keep him out for a couple of weeks. Mikel Arteta, however, was less optimistic in his post-match press conference.

Jorginho is the apparent replacement for Partey, but the club extended Mohamed Elneny’s contract despite his inability to participate with the team. A concise but encouraging update. Elneny may not be able to perform at the same level as Partey, but he has always been a reliable option when called upon and has demonstrated excellent play at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.
Jurrien Timber is also rehabilitating from a recent injury. The Dutch international underwent successful surgery two weeks ago and is currently in the “recovery phase” of his rehabilitation.

When asked how he was feeling about his recovery, he responded with “Good, good” The club was unable to locate a suitable replacement for him during the summer transfer window, so he will be greatly missed.
Arsenal now has a weekend off for the international break, allowing players such as Partey and Elneny to recuperate further. It is unknown whether either will be available for Sunday, September 17’s voyage to Everton.
