Last dance: Two stars end their PSG careers with a home loss
The Parisians’ home loss marred the superstars’ farewell, as it was the final game of the 2022/23 season.
Legends Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos bid an unexpected farewell to the Parc des Princes and thousands of supporters with a 3-2 loss to Clermont on Saturday night in the final Ligue 1 match of the season.

Ramos, who arrived in Paris in 2021 after a trophy-laden stint with Real Madrid, announced his departure from the club less than twenty-four hours before PSG’s final match.
“Tomorrow is a special day, tomorrow I say goodbye to another chapter of my life, goodbye to PSG,” tweeted the Spanish legend.
Despite early goals by Ramos and Kylian Mbappe, the departure of the star footballers from Paris was marred by poor defense.
In the 16th minute, Ramos scored the game’s first goal by heading in a cross from Vitinha. Ramos then left the field for the final time.
Mbappe’s penalty gave PSG a 2-0 advantage, paving the way for him to claim his fifth consecutive Ligue 1 Golden Boot with 29 goals.
Messi gives Barcelona a ’10-day deadline’ to make a decision as his contract nears expiration.
Clermont fought back before halftime when Johan Gastien scored and Mehdi Zeffane set up the equalizer with a tap-in.
Messi appeared to be facing a difficult final night with the Parisians.
As the World Cup champion’s name was announced at the stadium, spectators jeered.
Throughout the game, the Argentine squandered several opportunities, eliciting more jeers from the club’s supporters.
The former Barcelona star ended his PSG career with 32 goals, delivering the club two league titles but not the Champions League.
Grejohn Kyei gifted the Parisians the game’s decisive goal, resulting in PSG’s seventh loss.
Fans at the stadium blamed coach Christophe Galtier, whose future with the club is uncertain.
“After two seasons in the capital, Leo Messi’s journey with Paris Saint-Germain will conclude at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season,” the club announced after the game.
“I’d like to salute the club, the city of Paris, and its citizens for the past two years. Messi stated on the club website, “I wish you the best for the future.”
