Liverpool legend explains why Klopp don’t require world-class players to step up

Jamie Carragher, a former Liverpool defender, has explained why Jurgen Klopp does not need to sign one of the greatest players in the world because he already has a world-class player capable of performing a similar role.

Alexis Mac Allister is close to becoming Liverpool’s first summer acquisition.

On Monday, Fabrizio Romano announced they had reached a personal terms agreement with the Brighton star. Mac Allister is prepared to sign a five-year deal with Liverpool and will shortly undergo a medical examination.

According to previous reports, Liverpool may have to pay between £60 and £70 million for the midfielder. In a significant boost for Klopp, Romano has revealed that the club will need to pay less than £45 million to complete the transaction. Consequently, the Liverpool hierarchy views the transfer as a potential “steal.”

Liverpool were quoted over £100 million for former target Jude Bellingham, prompting them to abandon their pursuit of him in favor of Mac Allister.

Spending less than £45 million on Mac Allister should allow Klopp to acquire another midfielder, such as Khephren Thuram or Manu Kone. Liverpool has held discussions with the agents of these two players, and they are also interested in Gabri Veiga.

Carragher believes that Liverpool may not need Bellingham in their midfield next season, as right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold can continue to be a creative force higher up the pitch.

Klopp has utilized Alexander-Arnold in a hybrid midfield-defense role towards the conclusion of this season and he has been pleased with the results, so it appears that the tactic will be utilized moving forward.

Carragher extolled the 24-year-old and compared him to a possible £100 million acquisition. In an interview with Redmen TV (via Liverpool Echo), the pundit stated, “I believe his body language when he’s in midfield is completely different from when he’s been playing full-back.”

“It appears that I am observing a faster, more spirited performer. I see some of the passes he makes from midfield, and regardless of who we acquire – even if we bought Jude Bellingham – how much more could he do in midfield than Alexander-Arnold?

Jamie Carragher lauds the impact of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“I’m not convinced that whoever you purchase for £100 million can perform better than Trent.

This kid is too talented to not be the focal point of this squad, so I would consider buying a right-back and playing him in the midfield in a future season. It is his squad.

Now that he is becoming more mature, the team will eventually become his. He will eventually become the commander. Take away the things he receives criticism for, which are occasionally subpar.

He can progress on things, but he’ll never be amazing at them, so let’s concentrate on what he is already excellent at. “Leave him alone; he’s phenomenal in that position.”

Carragher added that Alexander-Arnold should be able to contribute more goals if he is permitted to remain on the field for longer periods of time.

“He has never been able to score goals from the wing position.” We’ve seen it from free-kicks, but if he was in midfield permanently and didn’t have that mentality of “When we lose the ball, I have to get back,” he could score five or six goals from outside the box.
