Liverpool will soon have the ideal opportunity to sign Mason Mount, as discussions regarding the star’s future are likely to place the Reds in charge of his transfer.

The Chelsea player has just over a year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, and discussions regarding an extension have stalled. According to extensive reports, he is one of Jurgen Klopp’s top summer transfer targets for Anfield.

In fact, a comprehensive rebuilding of the Reds’ midfield has already begun. On Saturday, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner all bid farewell to Anfield. With the Reds also saying a less-emotional goodbye to loanee Arthur Melo, Liverpool will be without four midfielders for the upcoming season.

Therefore, they have never had a greater need to strengthen their midfield. According to multiple reports, Klopp is looking to add at least three new players to his engine room for the upcoming season.

Indeed, Alexis Mac Allister and Nicolo Barella are among the players Klopp appears eager to acquire. In the case of Mac Allister, a top source has verified that an agreement has been reached to bring the Argentine to Anfield.

Now, Klopp is prepared to shift his attention to Mount.

Ben Jacobs has commented on the matter in light of a report alleging Liverpool are now the favorites to sign Mount.

Mount will reportedly have additional discussions with incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The reporter claims that Klopp has a ‘window of opportunity’ to bring Mount to Merseyside, although a new contract is not completely out of the question.
Liverpool has the opportunity to acquire Mason Mount.
In assessing Liverpool’s likelihood of signing Mount, Jacobs believes two factors offer the club a solid chance.

In an interview with Givemesport, he claimed that the Klopp factor and his contract predicament at Chelsea could play into Liverpool’s hands.

“There is also the Klopp factor, and despite the fact that Liverpool have had a less successful season so far than they had hoped, the project is still clear,” he said.

“Because Klopp is there and a number of other Liverpool players will remain even after this reorganization, and it’s fairly clear where Mount fits in, whereas at Chelsea it’s been less clear.”

“However, due to the presence of Mauricio Pochettino and the fact that Chelsea will continue formal discussions with Mount, nothing is final at this time. Due to Mount’s contract expiring, Liverpool sees an opportunity to potentially acquire him at a reduced price.

According to the Daily Mail, Mount’s price will increase as a result of a change of heart on the part of Chelsea, despite the fact that Liverpool is prepared to make him a top priority.

They claim that both Pochettino and Blues owner Todd Boehly now want to retain the midfielder.

Consequently, Chelsea could demand up to £80 million for Mount, despite his contract being in its final year.
Mount can attempt to force the issue by informing Chelsea of his desire to move on.

And as Jacobs notes out, Mount’s role would be much clearer at Anfield as opposed to Stamford Bridge.

As a result, there is a growing belief that the player believes the time is perfect to leave Chelsea.
