Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, and John Stones, the three players that helped Manchester City win the Treble, have all been put forward as candidates for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

They are joined on the list of six players who are being considered for the honor by the duo from Arsenal, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, as well as the former striker for Tottenham, Harry Kane.

After breaking the record for most goals scored in a single season in the Premier League with 36 in 35 matches, Haaland will be a heavy favorite to win the award that is decided by the other players.

The Norwegian forward finished the season with a total of 52 goals scored across all competitions, helping City win an unprecedented treble of titles in the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.

De Bruyne, who was named the PFA Player of the Year in both 2020 and 2021, contributed seven goals and 18 assists in the league to help Manchester City win their third consecutive title.

Stones, a defender for England, also performed exceptionally well after Pep Guardiola moved him into a midfield role. This helped to guarantee that City conceded just 33 goals in the league throughout the entire season, which was tied for the fewest goals allowed with Newcastle.

Saka, who hails from England and is 21 years old, had a fantastic season for the Gunners, contributing to their success with 14 goals and 11 assists.

One of the few bright spots in an otherwise poor season for Tottenham, Kane scored more than 30 goals in the Premier League for the second time in his career. This accomplishment took place in north London.

Since then, the England captain has completed a transfer to Bayern Munich in a deal worth £100 million.

Mohamed Salah of Liverpool was the recipient of the PFA award for the previous season. Players from either Liverpool or City have been the recipients of this coveted award for the previous five seasons.
