According to a report from Sport1, Manchester United and Manchester City are interested in acquiring Benjamin Pavard, who plays right back for Bayern Munich.

Pavrad’s representatives have been in touch with representatives from both Manchester teams in recent days to discuss potential future deals involving the French defender, who is eager to leave the German champions this summer. They do, however, face heavy competition from Italian side Juventus, who have entered the battle to acquire Pavard after Barcelona withdrew from the contest owing to financial concerns.

The fact that Bayern has not yet received a definite offer from any party has caused the reigning champion to be left in a state of considerable confusion on the current scenario. Pavard’s asking price has been set at €30 million after it was acknowledged that the 27-year-old player would like to leave Bavaria. This desire was made known in May.

Thomas Tuchel, the head coach of Bayern, is rumored to be a fan of the talent that Pavard possesses, and the club is ready and eager to integrate him in their squad plans if they do not receive an offer for the defender’s services. Pavard’s current deal, which is slated to expire in the summer of 2019, would need to be extended if the record champions are to avoid the possibility of losing him without compensation.

Although there is a good chance that the 27-year-old will remain in Bavaria this summer, there is no assurance that he will play as major a role as he did during the previous season. Matthijs de Ligt now has a long-term partner in Kim Min-Jae thanks to the recent acquisition of the South Korean player, which means that the Frenchman will only play a supporting role for the Rekordmeister this year. Kyle Walker is expected to join with the club within the next few weeks.
