Man United: Fabrizio Romano gives huge Tottenham striker transfer update
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, rumors connecting Manchester United with Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane are false and the Red Devils are “not negotiating” for Kane.
Are the Red Devils intrigued in Kane?
Prior to the opening of the transfer window, Man United were widely viewed as the favorites to sign Kane away from Spurs.
However, when it came time to negotiate, Tottenham refused to let their star center forward leave, particularly to a Premier League rival.
Due to the difficult and costly nature of a potential transfer, Erik ten Hag has switched his attention to other attacking options, and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are Kane’s new suitors.
Recent reports indicate that United may renew their pursuit of England’s number nine, with Spurs possibly conceding defeat in their effort to retain Kane in north London permanently.
Such reports will stimulate Manchester United supporters, but journalist Romano insists there is no truth to them and that the Red Devils are “not negotiating” for Kane, instead focusing on Rasmus Hojlund.
Romano stated on his YouTube channel, “Overnight, we heard numerous reports about Harry Kane and Manchester United resuming negotiations. The possibility of [Kane] returning to Manchester United exists.
“I’ve always told you that Erik ten Hag is a huge Harry Kane devotee. [He] believes that Harry Kane is the ideal striker for his style of football, but I’ve been informed that Manchester United are not currently negotiating on this player.
They continue to believe that Tottenham would never transfer the player to them, and the entire financial package may be prohibitively expensive.
Despite Ten Hag’s admiration for Harry Kane, it appears unlikely that a transfer for the 29-year-old will be finalized during this transfer window.
Kane’s contract expires next summer, but Spurs continue to demand around £120 million for their striker and have already rejected several Bayern proposals substantially below that price.
Given that such a colossal transfer fee would be required to pry Kane away from Spurs and that he will turn 30 in a matter of days, such a deal would be potentially imprudent for Ten Hag given the availability of younger alternatives.
According to Romano, Hojlund is now United’s top priority, and an agreement is nearing a natural conclusion. After a breakout season with La Dea, the 20-year-old has immense potential and could be a significant coup for the right price.
Where will Kane finish up?
Bayern, according to Romano, are still the clear favorites in the Kane sweepstakes and appear to be the only club actively negotiating a deal at this time.
Tottenham’s resolve appears to be waning, and chairman Daniel Levy may become increasingly tempted to cash in on Harry Kane instead of letting him depart for free next summer.
United could re-enter the race for the forward, presumably in competition with other clubs, if Kane decides to remain with Spurs for the remainder of the season and then leave for no reason.
It appears that Tottenham’s expectations that Kane would sign a contract extension have been dashed, as the forward has no desire to extend his current deal with the Lilywhites.\
