Man United player ‘fired from the dressing room’ by Erik ten Hag to be transferred by club
Prior to Friday’s transfer deadline, Manchester United will sell academy graduate Teden Mengi to Premier League newcomers Luton Town.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave the 21-year-old Mengi his United debut in the Europa League in 2020. Previously, Mengi had loan stints in the Championship with Derby County and Birmingham City, among others.

However, since graduating from the academy, the central defender has not made a single league appearance and is now set to transfer to Kenilworth Road.
Luton have reportedly reached an agreement with United to sign Mengi on a permanent basis, with Erik ten Hag eager to clear space in his squad.
Mengi was reportedly one of five players ‘axed’ from the dressing room following the arrival of Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund, among others.
The Sun reported in September 2022 that after signing Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Antony, and Martin Dubravka, Ten Hag was compelled to sever ties with a number of current players.
According to the report, the first-team changing room at the AON Training Centre could only accommodate 24 players, so Mengi, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Shola Shoretire, and Brandon Williams were compelled to use the U23 facilities.
The Mirror reports that Luton are also interested in Tuanzabe, with the 25-year-old training with the Hatters in an attempt to earn a contract with Rob Edwards’ squad after becoming a free agent this summer.
Jones and Williams have also departed Old Trafford, while Shoretire has been linked with a loan move after impressing for Bolton Wanderers in League One last season.
Despite Ten Hag’s efforts to free up salary cap space, the Dutchman is also interested in acquiring Marc Cucurella and Sofyan Amrabat on loan to enhance his squad.
