Man United ‘ready to pay £65m release clause for Port Goalkeeper.

According to reports, Diogo Costa will depart Porto this summer, with Manchester United reportedly leading the chase for the goalkeeper.

Portuguese port According to A Bola, the Reds are willing to activate his £65 million release clause and are the only Premier League club interested in the 23-year-old. Costa is rumored to have impressed United after a promising season.
He is now Portugal’s first-choice goalkeeper, having played in the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Qatar. The teenager posted 20 shutouts as his club fell short of the Liga NOS championship by two points to Benfica.

David de Gea’s position at United for the upcoming season remains unclear. The Spaniard is poised to sign a contract extension with reduced terms, but Erik ten Hag has refused to name him as his No. 1 for the upcoming season.

When asked by the Times if De Gea will be at Old Trafford for the upcoming season, the United manager responded, “Yes, but I won’t say he’ll always be my No. 1 because in a club like Man United, there must be competition for every position.”

Given that United are prioritizing the signings of a new striker and a new midfielder this summer, it would be unexpected for them to spend £65 million on Costa.

Tottenham’s opposition to United’s top striker target Harry Kane has prompted Manchester United to explore alternative options. The England captain’s contract expires next year without a trophy to his name.

If he stays at Spurs, he will not play European football next season, and it appears that he will have to force a transfer because United is unwilling to play the long game with Daniel Levy.

According to Football Insider, United’s interest in Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund has intensified in light of their pressing need for a striker. The Manchester Evening News previously reported that Ten Hag was following the 20-year-old.

Last summer, he joined his current company for approximately £15 million and signed a contract through 2027. Rasmus has scored 15 goals this season, which does not include the five goals he scored in Denmark’s last two matches.

United is also interested in Goncalo Ramos (Benfica, 27 goals this season), Randal Kolo Muani (Frankfurt, 23 goals), and Victor Osimhen (Napoli, 30 goals).
