Man United star nominated for Premier League Player of the Season trophy
Marcus Rashford has been nominated for Premier League Player of the Season for the 2022/23 season.
The 25-year-old England international scored 29 goals in all competitions during Erik ten Hag’s first season in command at Old Trafford.
He is one goal away from becoming the first Manchester United player to score 30 goals in a single season since Robin van Persie exactly ten years ago.
Rashford, who scored three goals for England at the 2018 World Cup in Qatar, has had his finest season to date. He has been United’s go-to man and has consistently stood up.
Only five players have scored more goals in the Premier League than him this season, as he has scored 16 of his 29 goals in the league. In addition to his five league assists, he has contributed directly to 21 of United’s 51 league goals this season.
Rashford faces competition for the award from Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka of Arsenal, Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland of Manchester City, Kieran Trippier of Newcastle United, and Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur.
Each of the seven aforementioned players has had an outstanding season, including Haaland, who has scored a record-setting 36 Premier League goals and 52 goals in all competitions. This season, Kane has tallied 27 league goals, making him United’s primary target for the summer transfer window.
Fans have until Monday, May 22 at 12:00 BST to select for their favorite. The public vote will be combined with those of a council of football experts to determine the winner, who will be announced on Saturday, May 27 – just one day before the conclusion of the Premier League season.
Nemanja Vidic, a former central defender, was the last United player to be named the division’s Player of the Season in 2010/11. It has been won by a City player in each of the past three seasons, with De Bruyne claiming the trophy twice.

As an aside, Rashford has been named the division’s Player of the Month three times this season. In addition to winning it in September, he also won it in January and February.
