Man United star’s ‘foolish’ reaction is a perfect retort after Jamie Carragher’s Newcastle fear
Marcus Rashford deems it ‘ridiculous’ to assume Spurs and Chelsea will have a ‘advantage’ over rivals like Newcastle United next season due to their absence from European competition.
After returning to Europe’s top table for the first time in 20 years, Newcastle will join Manchester United and Rashford in the Champions League.

These additional games present a welcome challenge for Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, who is well aware that his team requires greater depth to meet the demands of contending on four fronts.
Under Howe, Newcastle have become one of the most intense teams in the Premier League.
After the Blues’ 1-0 loss to the black-and-whites last November, former Chelsea manager Graham Potter stated, “you could see the difference in schedules in terms of one game per week versus the intense period that we have had.”
It is important to remember that Chelsea, who endured their worst Premier League season ever, played only four more games in all competitions than Newcastle.
Manchester United, who played 62 matches, however, had a schedule that was particularly demanding. Rashford’s club season ended on June 3, and the England international believes he needs’more time to recover between certain games and at various stages of the season’ as he prepares for Euro qualifying matches against Malta and North Macedonia in the coming days.
In light of this, Rashford was asked if having extra leisure would be advantageous for those teams, such as Spurs and Chelsea, who will be able to focus on the Premier League next season.

The forward told reporters, “It is never an advantage for teams not to be in Europe because these are the biggest games and every player wants to play in Europe.”
“It’s that straightforward. You should not skip Europe in order to get more relaxation. That is absurd.”
Rashford’s remarks come just a few weeks after pundit Jamie Carragher stated that Newcastle’s lack of European football had been a “huge bonus” in terms of their current position.
The former Liverpool defender predicts that these additional games will ‘affect’ Newcastle and cause Howe’s team to fall out of the top four, which will only serve to motivate the group further.
