Man United takeover: The problem with Sheikh Jassim’s two approvals

Sheikh Jassim continues to be interested in the takeover of Manchester United; nevertheless, all indications now point to Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

It became public knowledge at the beginning of the month that Sheikh Jassim had received two approvals in his pursuit to purchase Manchester United.

Those green lights may not amount to anything, however, because it has been reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is in pole position to complete the takeover.

Old Trafford is currently experiencing a period of unpredictability due to the Glazer family’s dogged determination to maintain their hold on power.

At the beginning of the month, it was claimed that Sheikh Jassim had two persons supporting his effort to buy United. Both of these individuals are said to be wealthy.

One of these is the chief executive officer of Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who has been providing his fellow countryman with counsel behind the scenes.

The second message was sent from Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, who is the Emir of Qatar.

Additionally, it was asserted that in the event that Sheikh Jassim was successful in his acquisition offer, then Manchester United would serve as the driving force behind a multi-club network that would also include PSG and Sporting Braga.

Earlier in the year, Qatar Sports Investments completed the purchase of a minority share in the latter side.
However, despite the fact that Sheikh Jassim has support behind him, it would appear that he still has a significant amount of work to do in order to be successful in his campaign.

It became very evident early in the week that Ratcliffe was truly the frontrunner in the competition to acquire ownership of United.

According to some accounts, the CEO of INEOS has outbid Sheikh Jassim with his most recent offer, which is reportedly getting close to the £6 billion threshold.

Others have asserted that the reason his offer is lower than others’ is because he is prepared to allow the much-maligned brother and sister team of Joel and Avram Glazer to continue working at the club in a reduced position.

However, there is speculation that Sheikh Jassim will make a last-ditch effort to acquire control of the company in an effort to swing the pendulum back in his favor.
