Man Utd report: Glazers’ debts overreach £1bn amid takeover gossip as Antony gets recess of absence
Manchester United’s start to the season has undoubtedly been eventful as they deal with problems on and off the field.
Prior to the international break, they have a record of two wins and two losses, but Erik ten Hag is concerned about Jadon Sancho and Antony. The former has challenged the coach on social media, while the latter is under investigation by the police.
Meanwhile, the Glazers continue to attract interest as the prospective takeover of the club begins to stall. Their lack of communication regarding their future plans is causing increasing frustration.
Debts reach all-time peak
The Red Devils are currently more than £1 billion in debt, and the club’s future under the Glazers remains uncertain.
The Americans have been in charge of the club for the better part of 20 years, but they remain extremely unpopular and are unwilling to invest their own money, which has caused them to fall behind several of their competitors.
In November 2022, they were placed up for sale, with the Glazers reportedly seeking £6 billion.
United’s outstanding debt remains a concern despite rumors that the club will be taken off the market. According to the Daily Mail, the club’s debt has now surpassed the £1 billion mark.
Antony was ordered to depart
Manchester United has verified that Antony will take a “leave of absence” while he defends himself against allegations of physical assault.
Antony issued a statement in which he said, “I have agreed with Manchester United to take a leave of absence while I investigate the allegations made against me.”
This was a mutual decision to prevent distracting my teammates and causing the club needless controversy.
“I wish to reiterate my innocence of the charges against me, and I will completely cooperate with the police to assist them in determining the truth. I look forward to returning to the field as soon as I can.”
Antony was removed from the Brazil squad in light of these allegations, and Manchester United have now verified that he will remain away from the club until further notice.
Hojlund’s siblings are expected to make an impact. Rasmus Hojlund cost the Red Devils £72 million this summer, but he wasn’t considered a’standout talent’ until recently.
In fact, Hojlund’s two junior brothers were predicted to achieve greater success than the new manager at Old Trafford, and they will compete later in the season.
Emil and Oscar, both aged 18, play for Danish powerhouses FC Copenhagen, where Rasmus ascended the ranks before moving to Austrian club Strum Graz and ultimately arriving in Manchester via Atalanta.
According to Christian Mouroux, the sporting director at the brothers’ local amateur club, Horsholm Usserod Idraetsklub (HUI) asserts that the younger duo stood out. “His two younger brothers, twins Emil and Oscar, displayed more obvious talent,” said Mouroux.
