Man Utd reveal that they’ve made ‘£50m mistake’ over Brighton striker
According to reports, Manchester United regrets not acquiring Brighton striker Evan Ferguson when they had the opportunity.
Under Roberto De Zerbi, Ferguson has had a breakout season, registering 10 goals and four assists across all competitions.

And the 18-year-old’s impressive play has piqued the interest of Manchester United, who are seeking an exceptional number nine this summer.
The Red Devils almost signed Erik ten Hag as a youth player, which would have spared them hundreds of millions of dollars during the transfer window.
According to Sky Sports, United academy director Nick Cox labeled the adolescent a “£50m-plus mistake” after the club failed to sign him to a contract.
Indeed, the report states that “Brighton believe Ferguson can become a £100 million player if he continues on his current trajectory.”
De Zerbi told Sky Sports that he has no doubt Ferguson “will become one of the best players and strikers in the Premier League,” with comparisons to Tottenham striker Harry Kane already being made.
Ferguson to Manchester United
Since a very young age, Ferguson has attracted interest from across the Premier League, having previously tried out for Liverpool, Manchester United, and Everton.
The Republic of Ireland international reportedly believed his development would be best served at Brighton, “where the path to the first team was clear.”
Sky Sports claims that United and Tottenham have identified the striker as a potential addition.
Although it is believed that neither club will begin their pursuit of the forward until the summer of 2024, as his current contract with the Amex does not expire until 2028.
While Ferguson has also been mentioned as a potential replacement for Erling Haaland at Manchester City, should the Norwegian decide to move on to greener pastures in the near future, it has been suggested that Haaland could be replaced by Ferguson.
