Daniel Levy and Aurelio De Laurentiis are two of the toughest negotiators in world football; Manchester United’s prospects of signing a marquee center-forward in the summer transfer window rest on them. The Tottenham executive chairman and Napoli owner are determined to fend off interest in order to keep Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen at their respective clubs this summer, making it difficult for Manchester United to reach a deal for either player, who are currently at the top of Erik ten Hag’s summer wish list.
Kane is entering the final year of his Spurs contract, but he is believed to be amenable to discussions at the conclusion of the season, when his future will once again be evaluated.
Levy will have understandable reservations about losing his talisman to a direct adversary, even if Kane decides to pursue a new challenge.

Tottenham must maximize any fee they receive for the England captain, who is essentially irreplaceable in north London, posing additional challenges for both Daniel Levy and the club’s next manager.

In the meantime, Osimhen’s stock is at an all-time high after he led Napoli to the Scudetto by scoring 23 goals in Serie A, and De Laurentiis has already stated that he is under no obligation to sell his £130 million-rated forward.
United is anticipated to test the waters after determining their summer transfer priority, but if both avenues prove fruitless, alternative targets must be pursued.
Outside of these two prolific forwards, the market is presently devoid of notable options, but United and other Premier League clubs will likely consider Lautaro Martinez this summer.

The World Cup winner is arguably on the cusp of Europe’s top-tier, elite strikers, and despite not exploding as anticipated, he now appears prepared to take his game to the next level after five seasons in Europe with Inter.

The Nerazzurri continue to face financial difficulties off the field, so a sale could be attractive if the figures work out for all parties involved.

Two summers ago, in 2021, Tottenham reached a £60 million agreement with Inter for Martinez, but the transfer fell through due to Chelsea’s club-record £97.5 million offer for Romelu Lukaku.
Inter are likely to work on the Belgian’s permanent return to the club this summer, following a successful loan spell, which could aid Manchester United’s pursuit of Martinez, who could be interested in a new challenge.

Martinez’s value remains close to £60 million, so he could be acquired for half of what Tottenham and Napoli will demand for Kane and Osimhen, respectively.

In addition, his link-up play in the final third could make him an ideal choice for this United team, just as it did at Inter, where he was previously employed.

While Kane is also well-known for his assists, it is Tottenham’s preferred 3-4-3 formation that allows him to drop deep and create opportunities.
At United, Ten Hag plays with Bruno Fernandes at No. 10, which could disrupt Kane’s tendency to cut inside to create space behind the wide forwards.

Osimhen is more of an offensive focal point, and he prefers to score the majority of his goals inside the penalty area, so he is more reliant on those around him to create opportunities.
Martinez is a versatile player who poses an unpredictable threat to defenders. He enjoys playing on the shoulder, but he also enjoys combinations and integrating Inter’s forward line through deft movement and hold-up play.

He is also the ideal age for United’s endeavor, being 25 years old. His finest years are unquestionably ahead of him, and after consistently performing in Italy and Europe over the past five seasons, he appears poised to reach new heights.

United would not be alone in their pursuit of the World Cup champion, as Chelsea is also rumored to be a fan, but outside of Kane and Osimhen, it is evident that he is the most desirable center-forward option currently available.
