Manchester United can sign four free agents who are more effective than Anwar El Ghazi.
Today, Manchester United has until 2:00 p.m. to sign any free agents. Former Aston Villa star Anwar El Ghazi has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but there are superior alternatives.
In the coming weeks, Erik ten Hag will have a limited quantity of attack resources. Jadon Sancho is in the middle of a war of words with his manager and looks poised to leave the club in January.
This week, the parties were unable to resolve their differences during crucial negotiations. In the meantime, Antony has been granted an indefinite leave of absence due to multiple allegations of sexual assault against women.
El Ghazi’s contract was terminated by PSV Eindhoven last week, and the Mail reports that Ten Hag has regarded him as a surprise option. However, there are four other free agents who would be preferable options for United to sign before the early afternoon deadline for submitting Premier League rosters.
Since leaving Real Madrid at the conclusion of last season, the former Chelsea hero has not joined a new club. His time at the Bernabeu was blighted by injury issues.
Both Crystal Palace and Rangers have been linked to a transfer for the Belgian. However, he would provide United with a wealth of Premier League experience if they decided to make a late bid.
Lingard
Lingard, a familiar visage to United fans, is currently unattached. Only last summer did he leave the Red Devils to join Nottingham Forest.
This transfer was unsuccessful, and he is once again a free agent. He has been training with West Ham, and the Hammers could potentially re-sign him, but a return to Old Trafford may be more enticing.
Andre Ayew
Ayew played briefly for Nottingham Forest in the second half of the previous season. In his 13 Premier League appearances, he did not score, but he has now played over 100 times in the English top division.
As the captain of Ghana, Ayew would also offer leadership to the United locker room. However, he turns 34 in December, so he would only be a short-term solution.
Oussama Idrissi
Idrissi, a Moroccan winger, departed Sevilla at the conclusion of last season. The majority of his tenure in Spain was spent on loan, including a brief stint in 2021 under Ten Hag at Ajax.
Idrissi would also be familiar with Sofyan Amrabat from international competition. He is the youngest on this list at age 27.
