Spurs’ season could significantly worsen.
In the aftermath of Tottenham’s shocking 6-1 loss to Champions League aspirants Newcastle on Sunday, the North London club could lose star striker Harry Kane, who is reportedly seeking a transfer.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has set his star player’s asking price at £100 million as Manchester United conducts preliminary investigations into a potential transfer.

Throughout the majority of the season, speculation has surrounded Kane’s contract status, as his team has remained silent on a renewal. It appears increasingly unlikely that a fresh contract will be offered.

The England captain’s current contract expires next summer, leaving Levy in the precarious position of possibly losing the club’s leading scorer on a free transfer if he does not sell this year.

According to reports, United have already begun their due diligence on Kane’s price tag and how to approach negotiations with Levy, a notoriously difficult negotiator.

It is believed that Levy may accept £80 million from abroad for Kane, with Bayern Munich showing interest. However, he will demand at least £100 million from English clubs and may deny all Premier League offers.

It is believed that Kane is not interested in departing England, as he has his sights set on Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record.

Thursday’s matchup between Spurs and United will continue the two teams’ pursuit of a Champions League berth. Christian Stellini, who succeeded Antonio Conte last month, has yet to confirm whether he will be in the dugout for the match.

However, the club is reportedly evaluating the coach’s future following Sunday’s calamitous loss.

Tottenham has options in Arne Slot, Julian Nagelsmann, Vincent Kompany, and Luis Enrique, all of whom play for Feyenoord.

If Stellini is dismissed, Ryan Mason could be considered for the remainder of the season. Mason takes over after the dismissal of Jose Mourinho in 2021.
