Mesut Ozil names Arsenal superstar and Man City trio in Champions League ‘ideal team’
Ozil has chosen Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka alongside Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé for his ideal Champions League lineup.
This week, the competition resumes, with reigning champions Manchester City seeking to defend the title they gained as part of their historic treble. It is also a monumental occasion for Arsenal.
After finishing second to Pep Guardiola’s squad in the Premier League title competition, Arsenal secured a return to the Champions League. The North London club has not participated in the competition since 2016–17.
Prior to their season opener against PSV Eindhoven, former Arsenal midfielder Ozil disclosed his ideal lineup for the upcoming season. On Twitter, the German wrote, “My Champions League dream team for 2023/24.” The top eleven.”

Saka, a graduate of the Arsenal academy, was given a spot on the right flank in Ozil’s lineup. The 22-year-old has just completed another outstanding season.
Last season, the England international tallied 14 goals and dished out 11 assists. This season, he has already scored two goals and dished out three assists, maintaining his previous level of play.
Ozil’s admiration for Saka is not unidirectional. When he matriculated from the Arsenal academy, the latter stated that the former midfielder was the player who most impressed him.
In an interview with Football Focus, he stated, “I would probably say Mesut Ozil.” He engages in isolated exercise. Some of the things he does will leave you speechless.
Aside from Saka, Ozil’s team is brimming with talent. He is not the only former colleague of the German to be given a spot.
This season, his erstwhile international teammates Leroy Sane, Manuel Neuer, and Antonio Rudiger are likely to play prominent roles in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, former Real Madrid teammate of Ozil, Sergio Ramos, is given a position in the center of defense.
After returning to Sevilla from French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain, the Spanish centerback will compete in the Champions League this season. On the subject of the French titans, Ozil’s team is led by Kylian Mbappe.
