Before the transfer window in January, very few Arsenal supporters would have been familiar with the name Jakub Kiwior. However, if you fast forward a few months, he might be the signing that got the Premier League title challenge back on track. The young player, who came to England after being signed for the future by Spezia from Serie A, has had to make swift adjustments to life in England.

As a result of injuries sustained by William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu, Mikel Arteta was left pondering the several choices available to him at center back before settling on Rob Holding. However, the Spaniard was forced to make adjustments because to the team’s recent poor performance, and he decided to start Kiwior in their game against Chelsea.

Because of that, the team’s ability to press was able to be more compact, and their control while they were on the ball had increased thanks to the youngster’s contributions to those around him. Arteta commented on the choice to make a substitution at that particular time by saying that the other player “looked ready, looked fresh, and looked really determined.”

The Polish international then faced a difficult test on the road at Newcastle, where he faced an in-form Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson, but he proved to be up to the challenge. Although it is not yet clear how far the defender can go in his career, Arteta has already described the significant potential that Kiwior possesses for the years to come.

After the game against Chelsea, he gave an interview to the press in which he said, “He’s been getting better and better every single day, not only in training but also in his interaction and his language.” Because I think he’ll be a good addition to the team and because I enjoy watching him play, I decided to sign him.

He is young, but already he shows promise as a player of exceptional caliber. Considering the kind of competition he faced today, he was given a significant challenge, and I believe he rose to the occasion admirably.

It is not yet known whether Kiwior will be able to win the championship this year, but given his promise, it is reasonable to assume that he will have the opportunity to accomplish so at some time during his tenure at Arsenal.
