Critics have already cast doubt on the qualifications of Manchester United’s new striker despite the fact that he has played less than half an hour for the club.
Rasmus Hojlund’s début at Arsenal is arguably one of the most challenging he could have asked for. At 1-1, the game was at a critical juncture, and despite the Reds’ loss, there was still cause for optimism, particularly in regards to their new striker.
On his debut in the Premier League, it was evident that Hojlund would thrive in the division’s physicality. The Gunners’ defense struggled to contain the 20-year-old and will be grateful they prevented him from scoring.
However, as has become typical for new United signings, the dearth of an immediate impact has already led to criticism of the youngster.
Former Liverpool player Graeme Souness stated in an interview with The Express, “I don’t think Manchester United will be better than they were last season.”
They spent £72 million on Rasmus Hojlund, a youthful center forward with a mediocre scoring record.He participated in 34 games for Atalanta but only scored 10 goals.

Erling Haaland’s accomplishments in Manchester’s blue half may have clouded Souness’ judgment. At only a couple of years Hojlund’s senior, the Norwegian has demonstrated he is already a once in a generation talent.
Unfortunately for United, these are difficult to find. However, for a 20-year-old to score ten goals in 34 Serie A matches is still impressive. Considering his performances for Denmark, it is clear why Erik ten Hag has taken the risk.
Hojlund should also benefit from the creation of additional opportunities. According to the Premier League, Manchester United are averaging a higher xG than last season, which suggests that the Dane will have ample opportunities.
Before dismissing Hojlund so early in his career, it is important to consider his age and the talent he has already demonstrated on the largest stages. The 20-year-old’s first season will be a learning curve, but he should flourish in the proper environment.
