PERRY GROVES CLAIMS THAT THE CHELSEA STAR,A VERY GOOD PASSER, WILL JOIN ARSENAL

Perry Groves believes Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will sign Jurrien Timber from Ajax, as they prepare to sign Kai Havertz as their first signing of the summer.

The Chelsea playmaker is close to joining the Emirates, according to Groves, and if he joins, he will become a’squad player’ under Mikel Arteta, as he told talkSPORT.

The 22-year-old played as a centre-back for Ajax last season, but he also has the capacity to play as a right-sided fullback, so there is a lot to play and work with.

It may be argued that Arsenal’s defense and expensive blunders were a major reason for their failure to win the Premier League title last season.

The injury to William Saliba in the final few months of the season didn’t help matters, as Timber will bring that added quality in depth if he joins.

However, Groves, a former Highbury player, warned Arteta that, with the club preparing to return to the Champions League, he must ‘learn how to rotate’ his players.

“The players you’re referring to, Timber and Lavia, are more for squad depth,” Groves explained. “I believe Jurrien Timber will join Arsenal.”

“I believe Arteta needs to learn how to rotate his squad more effectively – Arteta likes to get his business done early.”

Timber on the move

Arsenal’s backline is all excellent with the ball at their feet, which is a huge reason why they created so many problems last season.

It may be argued that a player like Timber, who has 15 caps for the Netherlands, would really improve that situation.

Arsenal transfer specialist Charles Watts provided some insight into the player, stating that people who know him believe he will be a’very, very nice addition’ to the Gunners and that he is a’really talented’ ball passer.
