Report: Chelsea decided to sign £50m star after yesterday stories
According to recent reports, Chelsea has reportedly made the decision that they do not wish to sign Ivan Toney during this summer’s transfer window.
According to the Evening Standard, the Blues have been dissuaded from signing the striker because of the ban he received as a consequence of his recent accusations relating to gambling.
It had been suggested in the past that Toney was close to the top of the shortlist for the Blues as they attempted to address the very public troubles in front of goals when they were looking to make a goalkeeper change.
The likes of Kai Havertz, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Raheem Sterling have not been able to reach the back of the net on a continuous basis, despite the fact that the Englishman scored two goals against Nottingham Forest over the weekend.
It was said that the player from Brentford was one of the players that they were hoping to acquire in order to try to resolve this issue, and his present manager, Thomas Frank, has already given them a glowing recommendation.
It was made abundantly obvious that he would not even consider trading his player for Erling Haaland of Manchester City, who has been breaking a variety of records in his first season in England.
Toney is no longer desired by Chelsea.
There was never any doubt that it would be an expensive transaction, with costs of approximately £50 million being mooted as the amount that would be required to bring him in.
The fact that he would not even be ready to train until 2024, though, has made paying that kind of money a far less practical alternative. He will not be accessible until 2024.
Instead, it is likely that the Blues will look to one of their other options to fill the vacuum left by the departure of their current player.
After his incredible season helped Napoli win the Serie A championship, they have been strongly connected with the possibility of signing Victor Osimhen, who plays for Napoli.

However, Chelsea will be secure in the knowledge that they are likely to have lots of competition for the move, as several of Europe’s top clubs are quite intrigued in the possibility of acquiring a possible new player.
