Report; Senior Chelsea players were opposing the club selling the 24-year-old athlete

Multiple Chelsea veterans wanted Mason Mount to remain at Stamford Bridge.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, this is the case.
Mount departed Chelsea for rivals Manchester United during the summer transfer window, and Jacobs’ column for CaughtOffside sheds more light on his transfer.

Regarding Mount’s transfer to Old Trafford, Jacobs stated, “The saga certainly has two sides, and now that Mount has moved to Old Trafford, the truth may never be known.”

Mount cannot say that he would have preferred to remain at Stamford Bridge now that he is a Manchester United player.

Chelsea will always claim that Mount wanted a new challenge that was appropriate for him and his family, and Mount cannot say that he would have preferred to remain at Stamford Bridge.

Therefore, both parties must simply move on. And it should be noted that Mount is still held in high regard at Chelsea, and several senior players desperately wanted him to remain.”

Mount has had a difficult start at United. The 24-year-old failed to make a significant impression in either of his first two matches for the club, one of which was a loss to Tottenham Hotspur, and has not played since due to injury.

Chelsea no longer employ Mason Mount.
While Mount’s departure from Chelsea is still a topic of conversation, the Blues have closed this chapter.

At the conclusion of the previous transfer window, they acquired Cole Palmer from Manchester City, a youthful English player who can play similar positions to Mount.

It remains to be seen whether Palmer will have the same impact as Mount did during his Chelsea days, with the United player, of course, assisting his former club win the Champions League in the 2020/21 campaign.

Regardless, the Blues will now turn to the England U21 international as their attacking midfielder, not Mount.

Mauricio Pochettino’s squad will travel to the Vitality Stadium on Sunday to face Bournemouth. Palmer made his debut for Chelsea in a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest just before the international break.
