According to Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony, Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke would love to sign Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane this summer.
The England captain faces an ambiguous future in north London, as his contract expires at the conclusion of the upcoming season. Kane is reportedly not in a hurry to sign an extension this summer, despite Spurs’ evident desire to retain their star player.
According to football.london, Kane will not sign a new contract with the club in the coming weeks, but a contract extension is still possible. Bayern Munich, the defending Bundesliga champions, have been extensively linked with a move for Harry Kane, but no progress has been made in their pursuit.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly been told that he must sell the prolific goalscorer if a new contract cannot be agreed, leaving his future unclear heading into the 2023/24 season.
And according to MacAnthony, Kroenke would be enticed to lure Kane to the Emirates Stadium if not for the fierce rivalry between the two clubs. The Peterborough manager told talkSPORT, “He’s a bargain at £100 million for any top-four club.”
“Let’s be honest, if Spurs and Arsenal didn’t have such a fierce rivalry, Arsenal would be penning a check. Stan Kroenke and his son are winning championships across the globe with all of their franchises. Arsenal requires Kane.
If Kane were playing for Arsenal, they would win the league championship.
Mikel Arteta’s current options in attack are Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, but a new number nine is reportedly on the Gunners’ shortlist.
Numerous clubs will be on high alert due to Kane’s situation, as his goalscoring record is among the finest in football. A switch from the white half of north London to the red side is virtually impossible for Kroenke.
