The Glazers may have thwarted premier League star from joining Man Utd as Fabrizio Romano discloses what he’s heard
Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Manchester United planned a financial takeover this summer, which would have allowed them to sign Harry Kane.
The Red Devils were rumored to be interested in a number of high-profile players, including Kane, but ultimately lacked the financial means to complete a transaction with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 30-year-old forward ultimately joined Bayern Munich in a transaction worth up to £100 million.
Erik ten Hag therefore turned his attention to Rasmus Hojlund, who reportedly joined the Old Trafford club from Atalanta for £72 million.
United also acquired Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Jonny Evans, and Altay Bayindir, while Sergio Reguilon and Sofyan Amrabat joined the club on loan. However, their transfer window could have resembled something entirely different.
According to transfer expert Romano, United’s original plan was to complete a takeover before the summer transfer window even opened, after the Glazers placed the club up for sale in November 2022.
United’s chances of signing Harry Kane have been ‘blocked’ by the notorious Glazer family, who have refused to reach an accord with either Sir Jim Ratcliffe or Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the two leading candidates to succeed the Glazers at Old Trafford.
Romano explained the circumstance to Caughtoffside: “I believe all parties involved do not wish to comment.
“The plan was to conclude the acquisition prior to the summer transfer window, but we’re still in the same position.
I believe that all parties are anxious, so it makes sense that everyone is attempting to keep things as quiet as feasible.Nonetheless, according to my informants, things appear to be occurring behind the scenes, but parties prefer to keep it a secret.
“With the acquisition, they may have had the opportunity to pursue superstar players like Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen, but their financial situation prevented that from happening.
This could have been a problem, as connections for this type of player were unable to materialize, so they were forced to employ a different strategy.
I don’t have any news on players rejecting United because of the takeover, it’s something normal in football.
Also, United are very pleased with their transfer window. They believe Rasmus Hojlund has tremendous potential and is a very dedicated and professional individual.
They believe he is the ideal player for Erik ten Hag’s concepts because he possesses a great deal of aptitude.
It should be noted that United are already on UEFA’s radar due to Financial Fair Play concerns, which could have had an impact on their spending, but supporters may still be frustrated with the Glazers.
